A well-known businessman Sello Hlatshwanyo a resident of Sofasonke, a semi-rural area on the outskirts of Mabopane. Built a resort in the area and it remains the first and only resort in Sofasonke.
“The idea was to create an environment where people can come together and have fun in a rural area that offers urban facilities, and that is how Izimpandze Resort was born,” said Hlatshwanyo.
He said that growing up ,they used to visit resorts in town and would spend a lot of money on those trips and usually the trips end in a very violent manner.
“I’m always on time when it comes to opening and closing, the safety of our kids comes first, and people know that at Izimpandze; violence behaviour is prohibited and not tolerated,”
“Seeing how this place brought joy to this area makes me happy and people no longer travel long distances to resorts,” he said.
The establishment of the resort has created job opportunities for community members not only from Sofasonke, but including surrounding areas (Madidi, Klipgat, Bheki and Ndlovhu). This includes those who are entrepreneurs who sell their products/services during events or platform to host events.
Izimpandze has three spacious pools (2 for kids and 1 for adults), jungle gym for kids (play areas), braai facilities, kiosk, and spacious relaxing space. Car parking is also provided.
Visitors are allowed to bring their own beverages and food; cooler boxes are not charged for.
