Tshepi looked through the window which was dripping with rain, waiting for the rain to stop so she could go to the Sunnyside Police station. She felt like the rain is taking too long to stop, the moment this feeling hit her she moved from the window and went to pick an umbrella behind TT’s bedroom door.

Things were scattered throughout the room because she was trying to protect herself from TT’s rage. She looked on top of the dresser that she once thought was beautiful when she and TT bought three weeks earlier. Which now bruised her inner peace by looking at it because it revealed her outside bruises and it still had Lerato’s bra.

She wanted to destroy it but, she knew very well that he would be furious. The previous night he said to her “I love you both, I’m an African man so I’m allowed to have as many wives or girlfriends as I want.  So, deal with it and respect my beautiful Lerato and don’t even dare think of doing anything stupid because I’ll deal with you”. She knew he wasn’t joking.
She looked at the bra with anger and everything hit her all at once. The woman who she thought was her best friend was now her worst nightmare.

A few hours before…

It was six in the evening and she hadn’t received a call or a text message from TT the whole day. He used to call or text her at every chance he got but now it was a different story.
She called Lerato four times and it just rang until it went to voice mail.
“What’s up with people not answering my calls, argh!,” said Tshepi.
She didn’t know what to do because she knew that if she caught him cheating he will blame it on her or beat her up to a pulp.

She continued calling for half an hour, even sent him SMSes asking if she did anything wrong for her to be treated like that. After hours of trying to contact him, Tshepi gathered the strength to go to TT’s place hoping to find answers she desperately needs.
She got up, grabbed her Lil dusty pink purse that he bought for her on her last birthday. TT used to buy her expensive gifts but lately, he’s been complaining about money and uses every excuse in the book not to spoil Tshepi anymore.

To be continued…..
