Nooooo!!!!!,” screamed Tshepi, “It can’t be!!! I can’t be pregnant with TT’s baby, not by him !!! He will ruin me!!”, that gave her a huge shock after hearing what the doctor said. “Calm down you’ll get into a shock and increase your high blood pressure, please try to relax. I’ll get you a social worker and a police official, it seems you are very fearful towards this man; we can tell him not to come here again.” said the doctor trying to calm Tshepi down. She stayed quiet for a minute then said “ok I’d like to speak with someone who can tell me if I have any options about the pregnancy and if I could get help about my heart condition,” the doctor nodded and advised the nurse to renew Tshepi’s drip as it had ran out.
The nurse did as instructed then she left. Tshepi was now thinking about what is she going to do, she has school to focus on. She still has to tell her parents; this is the worst thing she could face right now especially with the family being far from her and expecting great things from her as she’s an A student ;she can’t possibly be a mother now she’ll have to abort but it’s a little over 3 months now, this is a high risk and she can die on the process and to think about it; aborting 3 babies?. In anyway why 3 babies and not 1? This is confusing. She then felt a little movement in her tummy, she thought she’s imagining things, is it even possible? There it was again the lil’ movement. She touched her stomach and she had this unexplainable feeling that felt too good to let go of.
She then decided that she will keep the babies and the only way she can do this without any kind of hardships that might make her give up the pregnancy, is by getting TT arrested for the abuse.
Tshepi called in the nurse and asked to speak to the police and a woman came in wearing the police uniform. The woman looked at Tshepi and saw the bruises, she knew right there that this is a case of domestic or physical violence/abuse. “How are you, my dear?” Asked the woman “I’m detective Lunga Xaba I’ll be handling your case, by the looks of things this seems like an abuse am I right?” Tshepi was so down at hearing this because it made her feel as though her misfortunes are too visible to ignore.
“Yes, my boyfriend beat me up after I found him in bed with my best friend Lerato; I fainted twice in the process.” Said Tshepi who was now sure she wants to get justice for herself and her unborn babies. “Well Ma’am I’ll take your statement then we’ll take it from there.” Detective Xaba said while taking out her notebook and a pen about to write down everything Tshepi will say. Tshepi started telling her everything that happened; detective Xaba told her a case will be opened and TT will be brought in for the case she’s left. She was now all alone and thinking “with all the money TT has, will he be arrested or she should just disappear.”?
