TT was so angry he just kept hitting her till she didn’t move anymore. He got scared that she might be dead so he stopped. He looked at her and didn’t know what to do, he thought of running away because if the police find the body he is definitely going to jail.

Because of this thought, he immediately started shaking and ran to his wardrobe and picked any clothing he could get his hands on and threw everything on his bed. Lerato ran out of the house half naked the moment Tshepi fainted. Just when TT was taking his suitcase on top of the bed, he heard someone groaning. She wasn’t dead she fainted and went numb. TT’s heart started racing in fear he looked at Tshepi as she tried to move a bit and she mumbled something in pain; he didn’t hear her. She tried to sit up, leaning on the wall and TT just looked at her with anger and annoyance; because he thought she was pretending to be dead. He slapped her and screamed at her “Are you mad? Do you want me to get arrested? Why act dead? You forget that I’m an African man so I can have as many wives or girlfriends as I want so why did you come here?” Tshepi wanted to speak but she could only groan in pain and no words were coming out of her mouth.

TT took his car keys and said to her “Don’t you dare leave. I’ll kill you for real this time around!!!” She just looked at him and then collapsed into a deep sleep. She woke up the next morning to the sound of rain.

She came back to reality the minute she heard the gate opening outside. She could swear her heart would stop beating because it was beating too fast and her hands started sweating; her legs were shaking; she felt light headed with fear. TT was back, this meant anything even being beaten up again. She wanted to cry but thought “No, I should run the moment he opens the door!” She picked the umbrella and tried looking for her phone in the clutters of everything that was scattered on the floor. She found her purse, took out her phone and it was off because the battery was flat. So she took the umbrella and headed to the door, she couldn’t be too fast but she dragged herself to the door. The second she reached the door she heard people laughing, she wondered who is TT with?
The door opened she saw TT with Lerato holding hands with takeaways from Nandos, Lerato’s favourite restaurant. She looked at her best friend with eyes full of tears and makeup that looked too heavy for her face and said: “Rato, why?”….
