Anyone could see the pain in Tshepi’s eyes. Lerato, on the other hand, had a smirk on her face that said: “You had it coming!” Tshepi asked again “Rato why? I thought we were best friends, I took you as a sister and I told you everything, how can you do this? My boyfriend of all people?” With these questions, Tshepi sobbed in pain. She couldn’t explain it, it was like a part of her was dying or getting dormant. She looked at them and they just stood in front of her with faces that were revealing their satisfaction in seeing her cry like that. Tshepi saw that they are enjoying what they seeing so she collapsed to the floor and cried like a woman who just lost a child.
Lerato smiled and went to kneel next to her and pat her on the shoulders and said “Chomi, you and I are sisters hey; and that means we share everything. Just as you learned to love TT I learned to love him as well. I saw how he was treating you and I had to get a piece of it love. So, get used to it; we are sister wives dear.” This had put a sharp pain in Tshepi’s heart and shock took over her. She thought she was forgetting to breathe but the fact was, she was not breathing at all; everything went blurry in seconds.
The next thing she heard was TT and Lerato screaming telling her to breathe and to stay awake. She tried but she just couldn’t breathe and everything went dark.
She woke up in a white room with machines beeping next to her, she tried getting up from the bed but she felt too light-headed to get up so she laid still on the bed. Then someone came in, she couldn’t see who it was with all the white surrounding her. “Are you okay baby girl? Forgive me, my love, I don’t know what came over me I swear I’ve left Lerato and I will never hurt you again I prom….” “Hi, sir are you her family? We need to talk to someone in her family” a nurse disturbed TT when he was trying to apologize to Tshepi. “No ma’am I’m her boyfriend.” Tshepi looked at him and said “Ex boyfriend” in anger then faced the nurse and said “I’m alone you can tell me what’s wrong… Am I ok? When can I go home?” Are you sure I can talk; I mean do you want him around when you are being told about your health?” The nurse asked while pointing at TT.
“No, he is leaving,” Tshepi said while looking at TT with eyes full of anger and betrayal. He tried to touch her hand but she didn’t allow him so this made him to leave. The nurse then called in the doctor who was supposed to tell Tshepi what’s wrong with her. As soon as he entered Tshepi knew this is not going to be good news. “Good morning Miss Tshepi, how are you feeling this morning?” Doctor Nyathi asked. “I’m okay doctor can you please tell me what’s wrong with me?” The Dr went straight to the point “Well, miss I have bad news. You have a swollen heart due to high blood pressure and you are 3 months pregnant with triplets which make you a high-risk patient. This is why you fainted and there are great chances you’ll be fainting more in the second trimester due to your hormones being high and it seems you are stressed; you need a bed rest”. Tshepi was in disbelief because she has been getting her periods and never missed any, not once they just delay for a day or two. She had no words to say or describe her confusion. She just stared at the doctor.
What will become of Tshepi now? Will she tell TT? To be continued……
