Community members, pupils, community leaders and activists came out in their numbers at the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate Court on Tuesday for the bail hearing of Modiri Secondary School learner.
The learner from Modiri secondary school in Ga-Rankuwa who was seen on a video beating and bullying a fellow learner appeared briefly in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate Court on Tuesday for formal bail application.
Lebogang Matjila Police constable from the Ga-Rankuwa police station stated the following during cross-examination ; that the victim was waiting outside of the school when she was attacked by the accused at around 14:15 while she was waiting for her transport to go home.
The accused then came with a bowl of milk and asked the victim why was she talking about her, the victim was surprised when the accused said this.
The accused then poured the bowl of milk on the victim’s uniform, which the victim then replied “I won’t do anything because you are the boss,” the accused bumped the victim against the wall and she proceeded further to beat her with fists and clap her with open hands, which later resulted in the victim sustaining multiple injuries,” he said
The accused stated on her affidavit that she was provoked by the victim; the accused was released on warning.
The accused has been suspended from school starting from January 30th until February the 7th and she is going for a disciplinary hearing on the 10th of February.
The Magistrate quoted various conditions from the different bail conditions that the accused must adhere to during her bail application which includes not making contact with the victim. It was also said the accused should be moved to an alternative address and she must not use social media.
